The IR3 V2 prints onto a moving PEI coated steel belt instead of a fixed build plate. Run a single part longer than any build plate allows, or a batch of components back to back in series. Length is not set by the machine and a spool change does not end the job, so the practical limits are how much filament you keep feeding it and how much room the finished parts have to travel into.

Bed levelling

It levels itself

Tap auto-levelling and the print head touches six points across the belt, builds a bed mesh and compensates in software. There is no levelling screw to chase and no test square to reprint before a job.

It is not something you do before every print. Run it on first assembly, and again if parts stop adhering properly.

Build surface

A steel belt, not a film

The belt is steel with a PEI coating rather than a polymer film. IdeaFormer's stated reasons are dimensional stability under heat and a longer service life.

The print area is heated and the release area is not, so parts hold while they are being printed and separate cleanly once they reach the cold end.

Motion and firmware

CoreXY running Klipper

A 64 bit 1.5 GHz quad core controller runs Klipper firmware over a CoreXY motion system. IdeaFormer quotes a maximum of 400 mm/s and 20,000 mm/s2 acceleration.

What you reach in practice depends on the material, the geometry and the surface finish you need.

Print quality at speed

Resonance compensation

Klipper measures the machine's own resonance and shapes the motion to avoid exciting it. Ringing and ghosting are reduced at speed, rather than being traded away against it.

Extruder

Direct drive, dual gear

A direct drive extruder with dual gears and a 5:1 reduction. The filament path is short and the grip is positive, which is what flexible materials such as TPU need to feed reliably.

The nozzle is 0.4 mm hardened steel and reaches 300 C, with a stated maximum flow rate of 26 mm3/s.

Extended support rod (optional extra)
Continuous printing

Long parts, or many in series

Because the Z axis is not bounded by a gantry, length is not set by the printer. Reaching the end of a spool does not end the job either. The machine pauses, you load the next one, and it carries on from where it stopped, so a run is not limited to the filament you can fit on a single reel.

That works two ways. A single part longer than any fixed build plate allows, such as ducting, trim, cable management and extruded profiles, comes off in one piece instead of being printed in sections and joined. Or a batch of smaller components prints back to back in series, each one carried clear of the print area as it finishes so the next can start.

The extended support rod (optional extra) carries the part as it leaves the belt. It is not part of the base product.

Enclosure (optional extra)
Engineering materials

More stable ABS printing

An enclosure (optional extra) holds chamber temperature, which slows the rate at which the lower layers cool relative to the layers above them. That is what drives warping and splitting in ABS. It may reduce warping. How much depends on the geometry of the part.

The enclosure is not part of the base product and is available separately.

Monitoring

Watch it from anywhere

Wi-Fi, LAN and USB. The integrated camera lets you see the job from a phone, tablet or desktop, so you can attend to the machine when you are not physically in front of it (the machine should not be left to run unattended).

Job continuity

It stops instead of failing

The machine detects a filament runout or a break and pauses. Reload and the job picks up where it left off, rather than a long print quietly turning into scrap.

This is also what makes a part longer than one spool possible. A reel change is an interruption, not the end of the job.

Buying from EVOK3D

EVOK3D is the exclusive Australian distributor for IdeaFormer. Machines are supplied from Australian stock, invoiced in Australian dollars, and include 12 months of local support and warranty held by EVOK3D. Technical questions go to a local team on 1800 386 533 rather than to an overseas seller across a time zone.

Warranty is 12 months from the date of invoice, return to base. Consumable and wear items are excluded: the hotend, the conveyor belt, filament, tools and accessories. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
